CAIRO - 31 March 2020: Holding Company for Tourism&Hotels lit up the pyramids and sphinx, in solidarity with the victims of Corona around the world, to send messages of reassurance to them, and ask them to stay at home to control the spread of the epidemic virus.


The Tourism and Antiquities Ministry is lighting up the Great Pyramid with messages that praise front-line workers and ask locals and tourists to stay home to stop Coronavirus spread and protect themselves.

Minister of Antiquities and tourism Khaled Anany said that the messages on the pyramid are tailor-made to keep Egyptians safe during the current worldwide health crisis.

The Coronavirus messages are placed onto the facade of the pyramid in both Arabic and English. Among the messages are, "Stay at home," "Protect yourself" and "Salute to our security workers."

Egypt sent thank-you telegrams by lighting the pyramids to all medical personnel and everyone working to fight Coronavirus that invaded whole the planet


"Thanks to those who protect us and fight the disease and the virus," the ministry pf antiquities stated on its official Facebook page. "While we sit in our homes there are other people, doctors and nurses, hospital workers, saving the lives of patients, protecting us and others."

The Great Pyramid, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu, is the oldest and the largest of the three pyramids and is one of the original Seven Wonders of the World.
