CAIRO - 19 March 2020: The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has finished placing 36 heavy artifacts on the Great Staircase of the Grand Egyptian Museum, after equipping and fixing the bases of all the heavy statues.

Some 87 statues of ancient Egyptian kings are set to be exhibited at the Great Staircase. This means that 51 artifacts are yet to be placed on the great staircase.

This process is carried out in cooperation with the Arab Contractors Company and under the full supervision of the Grand Egyptian Museum's specialists affiliated to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities as well as under the careful follow-up of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Anani, and General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum Atef Moftah.

General Director of Executive Affairs for Restoration and Transportation of Antiquities at the Grand Egyptian Museum Eissa Zidan told the press that lifting and fixing the antiques on the Great Staircase is carried out in a sound scientific manner.

The Great Staircase of the Grand Egyptian Museum will focus on four sections; the first section will focus on portraying how the King/God was sculptured during the ancient Egyptian Era. The sizes of the statues will be various, but all will be sculptured using the three dimensional effect.

The second section will be portraying how the kings performed religious practices, and how they offered sacrifices to their gods, while the third section of will illustrate the relationship between the kings and their gods, using three and four dimensional sculptures.

The fourth section will illustrate the process that took place after the death of the kings, and how their bodies were reserved and mummified.

The royal pyramids in Giza will be visible from a panoramic window in the upper part of the Great Staircase to reflect the image of eternal royalty.
