CAIRO - 6 March: After 6 days of successful concerts, the first edition of Dandara Festival of Music And Singing came to an end on March 4.

The festival was held under the patronage of Egypt's prime minister Moustafa Madbouly, minister of culture Inas Abdel Dayem, and the governor of Qena Ashraf El Dawoudi.


The Minister of Culture expressed her happiness with the success of the festival which witnessed the attendance of 40,000 viewers, adding that the idea of organizing such festival in Upper Egypt was very fruitful.

Abdel Dayem stressed on the ability of soft power to reshape awareness and develop society.

Furthermore, she indicated that the main aim behind this festival is to deliver the cultural and artistic product to all the Egyptian governorates , showing the solidarity and cooperation between the national state institutions.

Abdel Dayem who attended the festival closing ceremony along with El Dawoudi announced that the festival success in Upper Egypt exceeded all the expectations.


Egyptian singer Mai Farouk performed at the beginning of the closing ceremony followed by a show for Luxor Folkloric Troupe.

The festival closing ceremony was attended by head of Cairo Opera House Magdy Saber and head of the General Organization of culture Palaces Ahmed Awwad.




It is worth mentioning that the first Dandara Music And Singing Festival in Qena Governorate was held with the cooperation of ministry of culture, represented by Cairo Opera House and the General organization of Culture Palaces , ministry of Tourism And Antiquities , Tourism Promotion Authority and the University of South Valley.

The festival included presenting : 10 concerts for Black Theama “ Band , Medhat Saleh, pianist Amr Selim, “ Wust al balad band , Ali El Haggar, Marimba player Nesma Abdel Aziz, Dina El Wedidi, Hisham Abbas, Massar Egbary Band , Mai Farouk and Luxor Folkloric Troupe.
