CAIRO - 18 December 2019: Minister of Antiquities Khaled el-Anani received on Dec. 18 President of the International Association of Egyptologists Failaka Windersh in his office in the ministry.

Windersh was keen to meet with the minister to discuss means of strengthening the cooperation between the ministry and the association.

During the meeting, Windersh expressed her admiration of the wonderful organization of the 12th edition of the International Conference of Egyptologists, which was hosted by Egypt from Nov. 3-8, 2018, describing it as “a very successful organization”.

Windersh also pointed to the policies the association will pursue during her tenure as president in order to further activate its role to serve Egyptologists and scholars and to contribute to the preservation and development of archaeological sites of the ancient Egyptian civilization.

Minister of Antiquities Anani expressed the Ministry of Antiquities' full readiness to support all aspects of fruitful and constructive cooperation with the association.

Furthermore, it was agreed to develop a road map to provide the necessary expertise in the archaeological and scientific fields through submitting special proposals that contribute to the preservation and development of archaeological sites and museums and training their workers.

This comes in light of the imminent opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and within the framework of the Ministry of Antiquities' policy that aims at developing visitor services in archaeological sites to stimulate cultural tourism.
