CAIRO - 9 December 2019: Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism announced the launch of the first edition of Abu Dhabi Music Week in March 2020 in the Emirati Capital.
The first edition will focus on electronic dance music, also known as EDM, featuring Ultra Music Festival, which is one of the world's top music festivals. The week will also include city-wide international and local music events at some of Abu Dhabi’s key attractions, including the inaugural DJ Mag Middle East conference.
Commenting on hosting the pioneering music platform in the Emirati capital, Destination Marketing Director at the Department of Culture and Tourism Saeed Al- Saeed said, “Abu Dhabi Music Week is a lively celebration of music that is set to be the first of its kind in the Middle East.
We believe in the power of music to unite people of all backgrounds. Therefore, we created Abu Dhabi Music Week to demonstrate our commitment to providing our residents and visitors alike with unforgettable experiences. We are proud to be hosting the first Middle East edition of the globally acclaimed Ultra Music Festival and the prestigious DJ Mag Middle East conference and we look forward to announcing several more exciting additions to the week in the future."
Ultra Music Festival was founded in 1999 in Miami, Florida, and attracted over 170,000 attendees in its 2019 edition. Having taken place across the world in locations such as South Africa, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, Croatia, and Australia, Abu Dhabi will host the first ever Ultra Music Festival in the Middle East.

Abu Dhabi Music Week will also include the first Middle East edition of the DJ Mag conference, a landmark music industry event organized by British electronic music publication, DJ Mag. The conference, which is amongst the first of its kind in the region, will run for two days, featuring groundbreaking music industry talks, workshops hosted by top electronic music industry experts, artist sessions and talent matching and booking programmes.
The Middle East's Ultimate Beach and Music Festival, Club Social, will also be part of the thrilling music festival. The event will take place over a course of three days from March 12 to 14, and will feature two international megastar headline artists followed by "Battle of the Bands," which showcases the talents of the UAE’s best rising stars.
Club Social, winner of Time Out Abu Dhabi's Best Live Music Event, boasts plenty of daytime beachside activities, premium entertainment, live musicians and DJs, as well as some of the most unique food concepts in town. Other activities include exciting land and water sports, as well as family-friendly workshops and activities.
Residents and visitors of Abu Dhabi will also have access to an array of nightlife and music events which will take place at venues across the city during the week, alongside offers and discounts at some of the capital’s largest retail and culinary outlets.
Tickets and artists for Abu Dhabi Music Week will be announced over the coming months, and visitors and residents of Abu Dhabi will be able to take advantage of a number of offers and discounts to attend the event. The pioneering music platform is expected to be followed by several other editions in the future that celebrate a variety of music genres.
