CAIRO - 28 November 2019: Minister of Antiquities Khaled el-Anani convened with the director of Beijing National Museum to discuss ways of cooperation with Egyptian museums in light of Egypt's pioneering experience in this field.

This comes on the sidelines of Anani’s visit to the Chinese capital to represent Egypt at the third ministerial meeting of the Forum of Ancient Civilizations.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of cooperation in archaeological work and museum affairs. Also, cooperation in research projects and skill enhancement trainings to promote cultural, educational and archaeological activities was discussed.

This comes within the framework of efforts to raise awareness, protect and preserve cultural heritage and encourage appropriate research and assessment in joint missions in the field of cultural heritage protection.

The director of Beijing National Museum took the Egyptian minister on a tour in the museum that holds more than 1 million antiquities dating back to various stages of the ancient Chinese civilization and is visited by 8 million people annually.

The first joint Egyptian-Chinese archaeological mission began in 2018 in the area of the Monto Temple in Karnak.
