CAIRO - 19 November 2019: Cairo International Film Festival revealed that the official bags of the 41st edition were made by recycling about 15,000 plastic bags, in an effort from the festival’s management to contribute to saving the planet.

Executive Director of the festival Omar Kassim stated that the tree in the official poster of the 41st edition symbolizes giving. Kassim further stated that it is also a message from the festival to participate in climate conservation, encouraging tree planting.

Kassim stressed that the festival's management decided to contribute to the preservation of the environment by manufacturing the festival's official bag from recycled material.

The UP-fuse project aims at spreading environmental awareness by making fashionable bags solely from recycled material. Rania Rafie, the project's founder, said she was delighted to collaborate with the Cairo International Film Festival in its attempt to preserve the environment.

Rafie further pointed out that she left a message for the public on the bags of the festival, clarifying that 15,000 harmful plastic bags were recycled to manufacture the bags, creating a direct psychological link between the client and the bag as if addressing him/her to keep it, and to always care about the environment.

The message on the bags reads, "By owning this bag, you contributed to recycling about 15,000 plastic bags."
