“Sorry We Missed You” revolves around the life of Ricky, Abby and their two children in Newcastle; a family with strong bonds. Ricky shifts from one job to another, while Abby settles in the work she loves most: an elderly person's patron.

Despite working hard for long hours, the two realize that they will not have financial independence and will not be able to own their own home if they continue to work in such jobs. He and Abby decide to venture; she sells her car so Ricky can buy a new one and become a freelance driver, finally becoming his own boss. The four members of the family sit in their kitchen when they are rushed by what they do not expect; a future full of temptations.

The film was screened as part of the official competition of the Cannes International Film Festival 2019, and was presented as part of the official program of the Toronto International Film Festival 2019, in addition to the official program of the Sydney Film Festival 2019.
