CAIRO - 30 October 2019: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia announced on Wednesday that it intends to organize an exhibition of Pharaonic antiquities in 2020 on the occasion of “Visit Malaysia Year”.

The Malaysian deputy minister of tourism announced to the press that the Malaysian Government is in discussions with the Government of Egypt regarding the exhibition and will provide the necessary funding, pointing out that archaeological exhibitions are usually attended by a large number of visitors.

The Malaysian deputy minister further clarified that the ministry is not only attracting local visitors but also tourists from the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The government has allocated to the Ministry of Tourism some RM1.1 billion of the 2020 state budget to promote the “Visit Malaysia Year”, as the ministry is targeting 30 million tourists, increasing tourism revenues to RM100 billion.
