CAIRO - 13 October 2019: The House of Egyptian Architecture will organize a seminar on Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. on bridges, tunnels and the right of pedestrians in the presence of a number of specialists. The seminar will be moderated by Tarek Wafik.

Recently, several areas in Cairo have witnessed the implementation of fundamental changes in the traffic system, including the cancellation of several metro routes, and the establishment of a number of bridges in several locations in Heliopolis.

These radical changes affect the heritage and architectural characteristics of the area, which possesses a special urban identity, which has raised the concern of the media as well as many experts and civil society institutions concerned with the preservation of urban heritage, asking for more information on such projects, their justification and feasibility.

The seminar attempts to analytically and objectively explore the general framework of these projects. It calls for the participation and interaction of all concerned parties to present visions and alternatives that minimize the negative impacts.
