CAIRO - 26 September 2019: Heliopolis Association organized a celebration on Sept. 25 for the birth anniversary of the great poet Sayed Hegab, in the presence of the poet Zain el-Din Fouad, at 7:00 pm, in Heliopolis Library.

Secretary General of Heliopolis Association Nabil Helmy, stated that the celebration comes from the keenness of the Association to celebrate the Egyptian symbols in various fields, especially in the fields of literature, novels and poetry, to enlighten the present generation to these pioneers and how they influenced cultural life not only in Egypt but throughout the Arab World.

The band “Habayibna” participated in the celebration, in addition to artists Ahmed Ismail, Ahmed Nabil, Reem Sayed Hegab, Mervat al-Gisri, Mahmoud Yusuf, chanting the lyrics of the most popular soundtracks of screenplays written by the iconic late poet Hegab, including soundtracks of the series’ “Layali el Helmeya”, “El mal wal banoon”, “Bawabet el Halawany”, among others.

It is worth mentioning that the late iconic poet Sayed Hegab (September 23, 1940 - January 25, 2017) was known for writing his poems in the Egyptian colloquial dialect for many Egyptian screenplays.

Born in the city of Matareya, Dakahlia Governorate, Hegab joined the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University in 1956, and then moved to Cairo University to study mining engineering in 1958.
