CAIRO – 13 June 2017: One of the most controversial dramas this Ramadan is “El-Gamaa 2,” written by Wahid Hamed. The show, with a title that translates to ‘The Group,’ was expected to be controversial, as it delves into a hot topic: historical events related to the Muslim Brotherhood and the positions of national leaders including the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser and former Al-Wafd Party leader Mostafa El-Nahas.

Hamed, a veteran scriptwriter, spoke to Egypt Today about the series and revealed details about the ongoing crisis with Al-Wafd Party, which has accused Hamed and the series’ producers of defaming one of its founders. Hamed, however, insists that everything he wrote in the show is based on historical fact.
