Walid Moanes' '1982' to be screened in Toronto Film Festival

CAIRO - 4 September 2019: The new edition of the Toronto International Film Festival, which launches on Thursday, Sept. 5 and ends on the 15th, will screen the film “1982” for director Walid Moanes.

The film is set in the summer of 1982, while the final exams were taking place smoothly at a safe, hidden school in the mountains overlooking Beirut, Wissam, an 11-year-old boy, intends to reveal to his classmate Joanna how much he loves her.

However, Beirut became hit with an air strike, and the study is suspended, which makes Wissam even more determined to reveal his love to his classmate Joanna. The film is starring Lebanese director and actress Nadine Labaki.

On the other hand, the world premiere of the Egyptian film "Elm el Wosool" by Hisham Saqr will be held at the Toronto Film Festival as part of his participation in the Discovery section; the section that feature promising directors and the future of world cinema on Friday, September 6 at 6:45 pm (GMT-4), and will be re-screened on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 15.

“Elm el Wosool” is written and directed by Hisham Saqr and starring Basma, Basant Shawki, Mohamed Sarhan, Lubna Assal and Rafal Abdel Qader.
