CAIRO - 1 September 2019: YouTube announced the launch of YouTube Kids, a website specialized in broadcasting a content dedicated to children. The application has provided content for smartphones only for years.

YouTube Kids allows parents to direct their children towards age-appropriate videos, in addition to the ability to track the history of watched videos, alerting parents to inappropriate videos that have escaped the app's filtering system.

TechCrunch pointed out that YouTube had already quietly launched YouTube Kids.com earlier this week, before the official announcement of the settlement reached with the US Federal Communications Commission which obliges YouTube to pay a million-dollar fine after being accused of violating children's privacy laws.

The fine, which the Federal Communications Commission decided to impose on YouTube, will be unprecedented when announced. Earlier in 2019, the TRA fined creators of the application Musical Dot LY, now known as Tik Tok, $ 5.7 million, obliging the application to require settings to control content according to user age.

The FCC's decision is expected to include a similar child protection system, including the possibility of redirecting children under the age of 13 to a child-safe site. This prevents the collection of any information regarding the children without the consent of their parents.

The new website YouTube Kids is just one of several changes made by YouTube before the announcement of the decision of the Federal Communications Commission.
