CAIRO - 30 August 2019: We all know what they did this summer. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello turned up the heat with their second collaboration, “Señorita,” which is Spotify’s most-streamed global song of the summer for 2019.

With more than 565 million streams since its June release, the hit track has simmered atop Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart for eight straight weeks.

It was no different in Egypt - the summer hit shot to the top of Egypt’s songs of summer list, showing that listeners loved to tune into a steamy track during the hot summer months. (Watch Shawn Mendes’ reaction to “Señorita” being the top global song of the summer on Spotify’s For the Record).

A tip of the (cowboy) hat must go to breakout rapper-singer Lil Nas X, whose “Old Town Road” took off in the Spring - as both a meme and a hit song - and the remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus is Egypt’s fourth most-streamed track.

Another fan-favorite this summer in Egypt is “Believer” by Imagine Dragons which has been witnessing massive popularity since its release back in 2017 and made its way up to fifth place in Egypt’s most-streamed songs of summer on Spotify. Whilst American singer and songwriter Halsey’s “Without Me” came in sixth.

Listeners also favored Egyptian pop-star Mohamed Hamaki this summer, whose recent album launched earlier this year and has been buzzing across the country, with his hit “Mel Bedaya” being Egypt’s seventh favourite song this summer.

Another fan-favorite for the summer is a collaboration by Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber’s “I Don’t Care”.

While Post Malone’s recently released singles have been witnessing massive acclaim, for instance, his 2018 hit “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage secured its place in number nine in the top 10 most streamed songs on Spotify this summer in Egypt while the multi-talented Billie Eilish’s hit, “Lovely” witnessed notable popularity as it became Egypt’s tenth summer hit.
