Numerous plays to stage on Egyptian Theater Festival launching day

CAIRO - 18 August 2019: Performances of the 12th session of the Egyptian National Theater Festival will start to stage at Cairo's theaters on Aug. 18. The festival is regarded as one of the most prominent theatrical events.

This comes after the successful opening ceremony of the festival which took place on the Grand Theater of the Egyptian Opera House on Aug. 17, in the presence and under the patronage of Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, and the festival's president Ahmed Abdel Aziz.

Aug. 18's events include the presentation of nine theatrical performances in the three competitions of the festival. The first competition of the Grand Theater includes three performances: “Tasgeel Dokhool” (Reporting Entry) staging on Hanager Theater for Arts and directed by Hany Afifi, "Opera Bent Arabi" staging on Al-Salam Theatre, directed by Hisham Ali and produced by Al-Shams Theater Group to integrate individuals with special needs, and “Metro” staging on Opera Malek Theater and produced by the Youth Theater Group.

Three theatrical works will be performed in the second competition of the youth shows: “El Dokhan” (Smoke) for Michael Basta staging on Sayed Darwish Theater, “Hezaa Mathgoob” (Broken Shoe) for Amro Afifi staging on the Puppets Theater and “El Malhama” (The battle) for Mohanad el Meligy staging on the Youth and Sports Theater.

Moreover, the Children's Theater Competition will feature three theatrical performances: “Alice in Wonderland” for Mohsen Rizk staging on Balloon Theater, “Sout el-Mosika” (Sound of Music) for Nourhan Shoeb staging on the National Theater, and “Lotus Flower” for Mohamed Hagag staging on Miami Theater.
