CAIRO - 16 August 2019: As part of El Gouna Film Festival’s ongoing mission of showcasing powerful cinematic works from the region and the world, the 3rd edition of GFF continues to screen a number of acclaimed and awarded feature films that were recognized at prestigious international festivals.



GFF is excited to reveal that the selection includes the winner of the Palme d’Or at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, ''Parasite​;​ Bacurau'' and ''Les Misérables'', the joint winners of the Jury Prize at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival; ''Once in Trubchevsk'', which was part of the Un Certain Regard section of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival; and Pedro Almodóvar’s latest film ''Pain and Glory''starring Antonio Banderas, who was awarded Best Actor at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival.

Acclaimed filmmaker Karim Aïnouz’s latest film 'The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão'', winner of the Un Certain Regard Prize at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, is also part of GFF’s lineup; in addition to ''Deerskin'' by French director Quentin Dupieux, which opened the 2019 Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes; and ''Song Without a Name'', directed by Melina León, the first female Peruvian director to be selected for the Cannes Film Festival.



Among El Gouna Film Festival’s selection is ''Hikari’s 37 Seconds'', winner of the Audience Award in the Panorama section of the 69th Berlinale; Nora Fingscheidt’s ''System Crasher', winner of the Silver Bear for Best Feature Film at the 69th edition of the Berlinale; and the winner of the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the 69th Berlinale, Italian director Claudio Giovannesi’s ''Piranhas'', the big screen adaptation of Roberto Saviano’s bestseller of the same name.



The program also includes ''The Traitor' by Marco Bellocchio; ''Sorry We Missed You'' by British Director Ken Loach; ''The Father'', winner of the Crystal Globe at the 54th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival; 'Kabul, City in the Wind'', winner of the Special Jury Award for First Appearance at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam; and last but not least, Hassan Fazili’s masterpiece ''Midnight Traveler''.
