CAIRO – 11 June 2017: The Egyptian General Book Organization may not partake in the Doha International Book Fair, scheduled October 12 to November 30, 2017, due to the decision of the Egyptian state to sever relations with Qatar if the situation continues, said Haitham Al-Haj Ali, the organization’s chairman.

Ali announced that the book Authority is scouting now the Egyptian government political opinion before participating in the book fair.

On whether the Egyptian General Book Organization will participate in the Istanbul International Book Fair, or the Tehran International Book Fair, after Iran and Turkey announced their support for Doha after most of Arab countries severing ties with Qatar, Ali said that Iran and Turkey are not used to invite Egypt to participate in their book fairs.

Ali explained that both Iran and Turkey did not offer to participate in the Cairo International Book Fair, noting that in the recent period the organization did not participate in any exhibition in Iran or Turkey
