CAIRO - 25 July 2019: Late actor Farouk al-Fishawy’s funeral will be held after Dhuhr (Noon) prayers in Mustafa Mahmoud’s mosque in Mohandeseen.

It is noteworthy that the late prominent actor passed away in the morning of July 25 after a battle with cancer in one of the hospitals in Dokki.

Fishawi was born in a village in the center of Sars el-Lian in Menoufia governorate on February 5, 1952. He was born into a well off family, consisting of two parents and 5 brothers.

His father died when he was 11 years old and was cared for and raised by his older brother Rashad.

Fishawy suffered a severe health deterioration in the last few days and entered into a deep coma.

His last work was his participation in the successful Egyptian play “King Lear” alongside prominent actor Yehia el-Fakharani. The play staged Cairo Show Theater in the Fifth Settlement.

Fishawy performed on stage after a hiatus of 18 years, as he last performed in “El-Nas Eli Fel Talet” in 2001 for veteran playwright Osama Anwar Okasha.

"King Lear" stars Yehia el-Fakharani, Rania Farid Shawky, and Riham Abdel Ghafour, among others.

Fishawy is a famed Egyptian actor and producer. He was married to Egyptian actress Somaya el-Alfy. His son, Ahmed al-Fishawy, is one of the most prominent actors in modern Egyptian cinema.

He was previously awarded the Africa Movie Academy Award for best actor in a leading role.
