'Eyar Nary' to represent Egypt in Tripoli Film Festival

CAIRO –17 June 2019: The Egyptian movie “Eyar Nary” (Gunshot) will represent Egypt in Tripoli Film Festival’s official competition.

The movie screened at the opening of Sousse International Film Festival for Children and Youth that ran on March 17-22 in Tunis.

The movie premiered at the second edition of El Gouna Film Festival and screened for the first time in Egyptian cinemas on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. “Eyar Nary” also screened at Tunisian cinemas in April 2019.

The movie revolves around a mysterious murder that connects the destinies of the protagonists and changes their beliefs about the concept of truth.

The movie stars Ahmad al-Fishawy, Ruby, Mohamed Mamdouh, Arfa Abdel Rassoul and Asmaa Aboul Yazeed, along with guest stars Ahmed Malek, Hana Shiha, Bayoumi Fouad, Ahmed Kamal and Safaa el-Toukhi.

“Eyar Nary” is written by Haitham Dabbour and directed by Karim el-Shenawy in his first feature film after many award-winning short films.

Shenawy worked as an assistant director on many feature films, including “Clash” and “Nawara”. “Eyar Nary” is produced by iProductions, in cooperation with Film Clinic.

“Eyar Nary” previously participated in the events of the Málaga Work in Progress in collaboration with the Arab Cinema Center (ACC) as part of the Málaga Film Festival, which was held in Spain from April 13 to 22, 2018.

Dabbour began his career with short movies and documentaries, with “Tahrir 2011: The Good, the Bad and the Politician” being the most famous. The documentary was split into three segments, and directors Tamer Ezzat, Ayten Amin and Amr Salama each took over one part.
