CAIRO - 19 May 2019: Tunisian singer Rawda Abdullah will perform a concert on May 20 at Cairo Opera House where she will present her latest musical art project "Dana".

Abdullah explained that the musical project combines new musical productions with Tunisian music heritage. The performance is a continuation of the show "Secrets" (Asrar) that was presented in 2014 and won the Best Tunisian Music Award at the third edition of Carthage Musical Days Festival. The Tunisian singer further added that the show was the result of a workshop that brought her together with Mona Shaturu. In the workshop, they both tried to determine the artistic features of the show and create a musical direction that distinguishes it from the prevailing concerts through presenting songs that translate their concerns and thoughts.

Rawda stated that the musical performance is inspired by African tones and rhythms. She added that she drew the project's vocabulary, poetic expressions and ideas from childhood memories and life adventures and worked to create songs with modern music arrangement that addresses youth, allowing them to interact with the music and lyrics.

Rawda’s band includes musicians with high expertise and mastery of numerous instruments who are open to different cultures, musical styles and dialects. The band includes Salim Arjoun (Pianist), Mona Shaturu (Oud), Hamad bin Salha and Marwan Sultana. This musical group seeks to present distinguished musical colors originating from the heart of Tunisian and North African cultures.
