CAIRO - 10 May 2019: Ramadan Opera Festival will kick off with a free concert for the Military Music Orchestra, Led by Magdy Abdel Aati and Samy Massad Shehata, on May 12 at 9:30 p.m.

The concert’s program includes a series of national and popular compositions. The compositions include “Ahla Balad” (Best Country), “Farhet e-Nasr” (The joy of victory), “Ya Msafer Wahdak” (Lone traveler), among others.

Military music was originated in Egypt in the Pharaonic era and flourished in the era of Mohammed Ali. The first military music school was established in 1838.

In 1902, the Military Music Department was established and has since succeeded in achieving a wide popularity at both the regional and international levels.

The Military Music Orchestra has become one of the leading orchestras to perform in the most prominent international festivals. The orchestra won numerous awards through its participation in a number of international festivals and competitions.
