CAIRO – 16 March 2019: President of the Wood Monuments Restoration Plant Gilan Mahmoud described the restoration procedures with the surgery as the restorer always deals with cases that can’t speak like the surgeon.

Mahmoud recounted during her interview with TV presenter Hamdy Rezk in Sada el Balad TV channel that the restorer diagnoses the illness and develops a treatment plan.

Mahmoud added that a number of tests and analysis are carried out on the restored artefacts to know its materials in order to determine the most convenient restoration materials.

She added that the restorer draws a stereogram picture for each archaeological piece using the latest technology to restore it accurately.

Mahmoud revealed during her interview with Rezk that the wood monuments of Tutankhamun are in good state where the former restoration materials have been removed and other more modern materials were added, adding that the restoration procedures of King Tutankhamun’s monuments is the largest since the tomb was discovered in 1922.
