CAIRO - 6 June 2017: Victoria & Abdul will be released in September. This British-American biographical drama movie revolves around the real-life relationship between Queen Victoria and an Indian servant of hers; Abdul Karim.

The movie is based on the 2010 book Victoria & Abdul: the True Story of the Queen’s Closest Confidant,” by Indian journalist Shrabani Basu.

Judi Dench will play the role of Queen Victoria, while Bollywood actor Ali Fazal will play Abdul Karim. The script was is written by Billy Eliot‘s Lee Hall and directed by Stephen Frears, who has also directed the 2006 movie the Queen.

Victoria & Abdul marks the second time Dench has played Queen Victoria, the first was 20 years ago in Mr. Brown, where she was nominated for an Oscar.

It is worth mentioning that the only Oscar the veteran British actress has won was for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in the 1999 film Shakespeare in Love.
