CAIRO - 4 June 2017: Parliamentarian Fouad Badrawi will file a lawsuit against the producers of TV series “Al-Jama’a” for falsifying the roles of iconic leaders in Egyptian history, he said in a Saturday statement.

The second part of the TV series undermines one of the iconic figures of Al-Wafd Party, Al-Nahas Pasha, said Badrawi, who is also Al-Wafd’s general secretary. He said some of the scenes in the series are an “encroachment and detraction” of Nahas.

Badrawi said he spoke with screenwriter Waheed Hamed, who told him the scenes demeaning Nahas were not deliberate and did not seek to insult any of the party’s renowned figures. Hamed urged Badrawi to watch last Friday’s episode of the show, which praises Fouad Pasha Serageldin, another Al-Wafd Party leader.

Badrawi has insisted upon filing a lawsuit in case any other scenes undermine Egypt’s patriotic figures or Al-Wafd’s icons, stressing that he will stand against anyone who fabricates Egyptian history.

Historical drama series Al-Jama’a, airing during Ramadan, showcases the history of the Muslim Brotherhood party, including their plans and attempts to become a ruling party.
