CAIRO – 4 February 2019: The Sheikh Zayed Book Award's 13th edition announced nominees in the branches of literature, arts and criticism studies.

The short list of the arts branch included three of the 13 works included in the long list, while the short list of the arts and criticism studies included three of the 9 works included in the long list.

The long list of nominees was announced in December 2018.

The short list of the literary branch includes the novel "Tartar" by writer Nizar Abdel Sattar from Iraq and the novel "Ghawaso el ahqaf" by writer Amal al-Faran from Saudi Arabia, among others.

As for the arts and criticism studies' short list, it includes "The Three Dimensions Literature Studies in Modern Arabic Literature" by the researcher Samar al-Deeb from Syria, among others.

It is noteworthy that the arts branch has topped the number of participations for the sixth year in a row, with a total of 382 participations, while the branch of arts and criticism studies amassed 151 participations this year.

The Sheikh Zayed Book award will announce the short lists of the other branches over the next few weeks.
