CAIRO – 4 February 2019: Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy affirmed that the African Cup of Nations, set to be hosted by Egypt in June, will witness the highest level of television coverage.
Sobhy further declared during an open meeting held in the Cairo International Book Fair that he is not planning to exclude Ismailia stadium from hosting matches during the tournament, especially that the CAF did not issue any decisions after the crisis that has taken place in the stadium recently. In addition, the minister pointed out that the Ministry of Youth and Sports asserted that the opening ceremony will be organized by a major, specialized company to come out in a manner that is suitable for the tournament and the name of Egypt.
Sobhy stressed that the ministry is facing a great challenge, since they have only three months to organize the tournament.The minister further clarified that six stadiums will host the matches and 24 teams will participate.
