CAIRO – 27 December 2018: The Egyptian Ministry of Culture held several regional and international activities throughout 2018 to emphasize Egypt’s soft power and its regional and international influence.

Egypt was represented at the opening of the 24th session of the International Book and Publishing Fair in Casablanca, Morocco, in which Egypt was the guest of honor in February 2018.

Also in February 2018, Egypt was present in the declaration of Bahrain's Muharraq, the capital of Islamic culture, succeeding the Sudanese city of Sennar, which previously took the title in 2017.

Egypt participated upon an invitation by Sheikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, chairman of the Bahrain Culture Authority.

Furthermore, in April 2018, a mutual cultural agreement between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was signed to transfer the Egyptian cultural experiences to the kingdom and provide pioneering cultural assistance through the establishment of technical workshops and classes.

The artistic teams of the Egyptian Opera House participated in the events of the Okaz market and represented Egypt as the guest of honor for the festival in June 2018.

It is worth noting that an Egyptian-Saudi agreement for cooperation in handicrafts was also signed in December 2018.

Moreover, Egyptian artistic activities were inaugurated in Rome and Viterbo in June 2018 and lasted until December 2018. The exhibition aimed to enhance the Italian society's knowledge of the Egyptian culture.
