CAIRO - 28 May 2017: An Emirati documentary sheds light on the issue of stuttering, portraying it as merely another accent, at Cannes Film Festival, titled “Just Another Accent.”

The documentary is about Farah Al-Qaissieh, a 27-year-old Emirati entrepreneur who started battling with stuttering ever since she was a little kid which caused her countless embarrassing situations.

This lead her to found “Stutter UAE,” a support group first of its kind in the country that provides a platform to the community of stutterers to meet and raise awareness in the society about the issue.

Filmmakers Khadijah Kudsi and Samia Ali co-directed the film by following Al-Qaissieh’s life for six months.

“Just Another Accent” is one of 14 Emirati films showcased at Cannes Film Festival.
