CAIRO – 29 July 2018: Lebanese film ‘’Capharnaum’’ is the only Arab film announced so far in the lineup of the annual Toronto Film Festival. The lineup opens on Sept. 6, 2018.

The movie’s idea revolves around the story of a child that files a lawsuit against his parents, in a twisted manner of objecting for bringing him to life.

The film will be screened in North America’s premiere, and will be categorized under the ‘special presentations’ segment. This segment consists of international films starring significant superstars and directors in the global film industry.

The Lebanese film is viewed by many as politically-charged. “Capharnaum” previously won the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival which makes Labaki the first Arab Filmmaker in a twelve-year span to win the official Cannes Film Festival competition.

The director has previously won TIFF’s People’s Choice Award in 2011 for her film ‘’Where Do We Go Now?’’, which achieved great success at the time of its release.

Director Damien Chazelle’s movie “First Man” will be previewed during the festival’s opening. About 17 highly anticipated film names are lined up already for Toronto’s Film Festival, however, the full list will be revealed soon.
