CAIRO – 28 July 2018: The famed Egyptian actress Hayatem passed away on Friday at the age of 68 as a result of colon cancer complications.
Hayatem was considered one of the most famous Egyptian seductive actresses in Egyptian cinema history. Most of her fans view her as the complete femme fatale.
She was born in Alexandria on July 22, 1950. She started her artistic career as a belly dancer in Alexandrian night clubs, then she moved to Cairo to start her acting career.
In 1972, she participated in her first movie “Leilet Hob Akhera” (The Last Night of Love) along with Emad Hamdy, Nabila Ebeid and Salah Kabeel. Hayatem participated in numerous movies such as “Ghareeb fe Beity” (A Stranger in my House), “Aly Beih Mazhar”, “El Motaswel” (The Beggar) among others.
She performed in some TV series such as “El Batnya”, “Zohra w Azwgha el Khamsa” (Zohra and Her Five Husbands), “El Mal w el Banon” (Money and Children) among others.
Hayatem’s last public appearance was in December 2017 during a fashion show performed by the famed Egyptian fashion designer Hany El Behairy, where she appeared pale, has lost a lot of weight, supporting the information circulated about her colon cancer. She was married for a short period to a football player named Mahmoud el Khawaga.
