CAIRO – 12 June 2018: Several international and Egyptian firms that were nominated for handling the maintenance works and other aspects of the New Grand Egyptian Museum discussed today its new logo in a press conference held at the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities.

The idea of the logo was inspired by the actual design of the museum and its environment and surroundings.

Tarek Tewfik, the general supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum, said that the logo illustrates the unique design of the museum, which overlooks the Giza pyramids.
In addition, orange was the color chosen for the logo as it represents the setting sun over the pyramids.

The museum's name will be written in smooth Arabic cursive writing, inspired by the desert that surrounds the museum.

Tewfik confirmed that the logo was part of the works handled by the German firm “Atelier Bruckner”.

The German firm was chosen from a global consortium that consisted of 12 entities from eight countries.

Each firm was supposed to come with a proposal for the design of the museum halls in its preliminary stage. The process of choosing the appropriate logo took several months.
A committee consisting of numerous “elite” Egyptian professors was formed, and the choice of the logo was finalized.

The simplicity of the logo — along with its design and colors — is a sure way of promoting tourism to Egypt.
