CAIRO – 28 May 2018: The National Theater announced the return of “Leila men Alf Leila” (A Night from a Thousand Nights) on stage on the second day of the upcoming Eid el-Fitr.

The play was written by the legendary poet Beram El Tonsy and directed by Mohsen Helmy.

The play narrates the story of an old beggar who roams the streets singing with his daughter at the time of the king’s crowning ceremony. The king, who is still a young man, falls in love with the beggar’s daughter. He chooses to mask his real family and title.

Depending on dances, music and songs is the main element of the play’s success, because it attracts different types of people.

It is also considered a strong comeback for the Egyptian National Theater, as the play managed to generate high revenues. It stars Yehia El Fakharany, Heba Magdi, Mohamed Mohsen, Lotfy Labib and a number of cast members from the National Theater.

Fakhrany’s last contribution to the National Theater was Shakespeare’s “King Lear” in 2001.

Fakharany presented a dazzling performance in his Ramadan series “Bel-Hagm El-Aaeely” (Family Size), which is currently being aired on DMC channel. The distinguished TV series is considered a strong return for the veteran actor after a year of absence.

The light comedy series witnesses the comeback of two giants, Fakharany and Mervat Amin; it has been more than 30 years since their last cooperation. It revolves around retired Ambassador Nader, who decides to follow his passion for food by opening a restaurant in a touristic village, where he is the main chef. The series is directed by Hala Khalil, written by Mohamed Ragaa, and stars Yousra El Lozy, Ahmed Magdy and Ramzy Lehner.
