CAIRO - 22 April 2018: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit inaugurated on Sunday a book fair at the library of the pan-Arab organization.

He said that the fair displays a very important collection of books covering all fields of knowledge.

The inauguration of the fair coincides with celebrating World Book Day (also known as International Day of the Book) which is a yearly event on April 23rd, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to promote reading, publishing and copyright. World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on 23 April 1995.

The AL will distribute the surplus books from the fair on its employees, Abul Gheit said, adding that each employee will get nine books maximum.

The fair features a number of books in the field of joint Arab work along with books and publications covering myriads of humanitarian, security, military and economic subjects.
