CAIRO – 14 April 2018: MAD Solutions participated in the third Emirati Film Review in Poland with feature film "Abdullah" and short film "Karouma".
The Emirati Film Review ran April 6-8 and served as a platform for people in Poland to learn more about movies in the Emirates. It was organized by the Nahda Foundation, a non-profit organization, and held by the UAE embassy in Poland. The foundation's purpose is to increase awareness and understanding of Middle Eastern culture through the use of various cultural and educational activities and initiatives.
"Abdullah" was released in 2015 and tells the story of a young boy growing up in a heavily conservative family. This causes problems for the film's titular character, Abdullah, who has a strong love of music and has always dreamed of becoming a musician, but must hide this passion from his family. Directed by Humaid Alsuwaidi, the film was produced in the UAE and stars Mohammed Ahmed, Mansour Al Feeli, Fatima Altaei, Alaa Shaker, David Daly and Brent Jenkins.
"Karouma" is an animated short film directed by Boubaker Boukhar about a young boy born without arms. His parents have sheltered him from the world, yet he refuses to remain cooped in his nest for long, desiring to see everything the world has to offer and to live his life to the fullest, regardless of anything. The short film has toured 70 film festivals all around the world, raking in a wide variety of awards, such as the Best Animation Film Award at the New York International Short Film Festival.
