CAIRO – 8 April 2018: The Sitara Theatre will be holding its largest ever performance on April 20, titled "Mother Knows Best" at Malvern College Egypt Theatre, and again on Saturday April 21.

Set in the village of Sitara, the play follows a wide range of wild, crazy characters as they get up to hilarious antics and zany mischief. The plot begins when Osman's mother-in-law decides to come over, while a crafty thief and Hagga Saadey decide to stir up trouble. Only mother knows best as to whether or not the thief will ever get captured and if Osman can keep his new business from crashing down.

The performance will be held in English and Arabic, and features puppetry, masks, music and more. Sitara Theatre is an all-woman theatrical troupe dedicated to kids and family performances, providing high quality interactive plays, alongside a wide range of performance art workshops geared towards educating a younger audience. They are based in Porto Cairo, and since opening in October 2008, have entertained well over 150,000 children from the ages of 2-16 from across 150 National and International schools. The shows and workshops are all written by Emma Davis, with set designs, puppets and masks by UK artist John Barber.

Davis had worked in the UK as a professional actress for over 10 years, specializing in young people's theatres and theatre in education. Before opening Sitara, Davis had a decade of experience in Egypt working as a teacher and educational manager, which makes her a good fit for managing and writing the workshops as well.

Barber is not only an accomplished artist but also a skilled actor, having completed an MA in theatre and arts at the The Workshop Theatre in Leeds. As if touring extensively in theatre and working as an artist wasn't enough, Barber also works as a TV actor, starring in shows such as Coronation Street, Mathematical Eye, Cold Feet, Emmerdale and more.

"Mother Knows Best" stars Wessam Hanafy, the Sitara Team, Emma Davis, and for the first time features male actors.
