CAIRO- 1 April 2018: Preparations unfold for the newest theatrical dance performance “The Fall of Icarus” which will be performed by the Egyptian Modern Dance Theater at Cairo Opera House on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The performance is directed by Waeed Einwy who will implement a new vision for the display in those two consecutive days, according to a released statement by the Cairo Opera House.

The Fall of Icarus is inspired by an old Greek legend revolving around a man lost with his father on an island and they try to escape through using artificial wings they glued on their backs with wax to fly.

While planning to escape, Icarus flies very high near the sun as he ignores his father’s advice about the consequences of flying too high and as a result he falls dead as the heat of the sun melts his wings. The play displays a niche of wisdom and philosophical meaning in directing ambitions and goals.

Estalished in 1993, Egyptian Modern Dance Theater troupe has been well known for depicting Egyptian heritage and history in their performances as well as incorporating Arab identity in some of their displays of innovative structures.
