CAIRO - 27 January 2018: Cairo International Book Fair will screen “Ala Defaf El Nile” (On The Nile’s Banks) during its 49th edition, in honor of the first death anniversary of the late prominent Egyptian actress Shadia.

According to Egynews, the film screening will be accompanied by a seminar led by the Egyptian actor Samir Sabry. Also, Shadia’s nephew will join the seminar, he will be sharing his stories and memories of her and talking about the most significant artistic stages in her life.

The film is a Japanese-Egyptian production and considered to be the first collaboration between Egypt and Japan in cinema. The film stars the prominent Egyptian actor Kamal El Shenawy.

The fair’s administration organizes cinema activities and events during the Cairo International Book Fair.

Also, as Egypt Today has previously reported, the art camp of the book fair will bear the name of the late great Egyptian artist Shadia.

Originally named Fatma Shaker, Shadia has led inspirational roles either in shedding light on the oppression carried out against women or portraying the strength of women who grew strong despite the oppression, breaking all the walls and fighting for their rights. Shadia has pioneered in playing the role of a woman who is an active agent in everyone’s life.

Some of her roles have undoubtedly fought gender bias, stressing that women can be equally powerful as men; also, it has uniquely framed the importance of being selfless towards loved ones.
