CAIRO – 6 January 2018: Cima will screen the documentary “Sobyan w Banat” (boys and girls) directed by the renowned Egyptian director Yousry Nasrallah on January 11.

The film screening will be followed by a seminar to discuss the movie conducted by the acclaimed film critic Ahmed Shawky.

Nasrallah was born in Cairo in 1952. After his graduation from the Higher Institute of Cinema, he worked as a cinema critic in the Lebanese newspaper “El Safir” and as an assistant director.

Later, he worked as an assistant director for the late veteran director Youssef Chahin. He directed his first feature movie in 1990, entitled “ Sarekat Sayfia” (Summer Robberies).

The distinguished director usually presents a very special and distinctive vision in his films, attempting to portray the Egyptian society and the psychological formations of its citizens.

Nasrallah will lead MENA’s first audience-generated film project, in which the public will be given the opportunity to complete one of his film scripts by registering on a digital platform.

This project, dubbed The Arab Entertainment Experience, was announced at the 14th Dubai International Film Festival on Tuesday and is claimed to be the Middle East’s first crowd-generated film project.

The AEE is a talent development project that will see the creation of a user-generated film with the guidance of Nasrallah and a team of the Arab world’s most talented filmmakers. It will be launched in Egypt, Dubai and Saudi Arabia and is based on previous ‘Entertainment Experience’ projects in China, the Netherlands and Turkey.

The project will run for nine months and follow the journey of film production, led by the audience, who will write, direct and compose their own movie scripts. Winning scripts will be transformed by Nasrallah into a professional release fit for cinemas. A 13-episode TV show will record the creation of the project, and master classes and workshops will be available.
