CAIRO – 3 January 2018: Russian drama film “Loveless” will screen at Cima on Thursday January 4. The film screening will be followed by a discussion session with prominent critic Ahmed Shawqi.

Written and directed by award-winning Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev, the film revolves around a young boy, Alexey who decided not to return home due to his parents' fights.

Although Alexey's parents, Zhenya and Borisare, are on the verge of divorce, they team up in search for Alexey.

Unfortunately, the police fail to find Alexy, despite huge efforts, including spreading Alexy’s photos in the street.

The final scene of the film shows a nearby river where Alexy used to pass by on his way home from school but without any evidence of his presence.

Starring Maryana Spivak, Aleksey Rozin, and Varvara Shmykova, the film was released in 2017 and it won the Jury Prize at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

It also participated in various festivals such as Zagreb Film Festival, Munich Film Festival, and the London Film Festival.
