CAIRO – 28 December 2017: A playback theater night will take place at Dawar on January 15, displaying different theatrical forms of improvisation.

The performance consists of a communication between the audience and the actors on stage. The audience will be introducing a personal experience and the actors will re-act it on stage, according to the event’s official page.

Playback theatre is considered a branch of improvisational theatre, a modern theatrical form, where the performance is based on spontaneous dialogue, characters, plot and conflict. It is influenced with more modern theatrical forms such as psycho-theatre and drama therapy, as well as folk literature.

Playback theater features several purposes including improving enjoyable theatre based on multiple voices, documentation of certain situations, self expression, psychological therapy and education. This form of theater is introduced in more than 60 places around the world. In the Middle East, there is a school for playback theatre teaching and training.

The Arab School of playback theatre programs are held in different Arab countries such as Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon. In addition, they organize workshops in India.

Dawar is a cultural venue specialized in theatre and its branches such as psycho drama, theatrical performances, and using drama to heal. Providing art exhibitions and other cultural events, the place hosts activities that are headed by professional experts, in addition to organizing a number of drama workshops.
