CAIRO - 25 December 2017: Security forces at Cairo International Airport managed to thwart a smuggling attempt of collectibles of Mohamed Ali family and King Farouq.

In a Monday statement, the head of the central administration of archaeological units in Egyptian ports Ahmed el Rawy said that an Egyptian passenger traveling to Dubai was suspected by policemen of having antiquities in his possession.

An archaeological committee was formed to examine the items, Rawy added.

The collectibles include two glass cups of King Farouq and historic documents, he noted.
