329 ancient coins seized before being smuggled to France

CAIRO - 24 December 2017: 329 ancient coins were seized with an Egyptian passenger at Cairo International Airport while trying to smuggle them to France, according to a Sunday statement by the Ministry of Antiquities Khaled Anani.

The coins date back to the Byzantine and the Ptolemy eras, Head of the ministry's antiquities department Ayman Ashmawy said.
