CAIRO – 21 December 2017: The Ministry of Antiquities has approved renovating the historical Sharaibi Bathhouse under the Saving Egypt’s Heritage initiative, Mostafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, stated through a press statement issued by the Ministry of Antiquities.

In addition, Historical Cairo Project Director Mohamed Abdel Aziz explained that the Dutch Prince Claus Fund will finance the project.

Regarding the renovation work, it will be divided into two phases under the supervision of the Ministry of Antiquities.

Constructed by Sultan El Ghouri in the 16th century, Sharaibi Bathhouse was built as an expansion for El Ghouri’s son’s house to serve El Ghouri School students.

Locally, it is named by El Sharaibi after Al Nasser Mohamed Dadah El Sharaibi, who reconstructed the bathhouse during the 18th century.
