Young Indie musicians to lead Christmas-themed concert in Dokki

CAIRO – 20 December 2017: Three of young Indie/ Jazz Egyptian musicians will be leading a concert celebrating Christmas vibes in Dokki’s Da House. The joint performance will feature a fusion of jazz played by Amro Salah, Shereen Abdo, and Tarek Abdelkawi, according to the event’s official Facebook page.

Amro Salah, who will be playing the accordion for the concert, is one of the founders and band members of the veteran jazz fusion band “Eftekasat” (Innovations). He has performed at numerous venues and festivals across Egypt and and other countries as part of Eftekasat’s performances.. Salah is a pianist, a composer, and artistic director, working mainly with jazz, world, oriental, Latin, and pop music.

Vocalist Shereen Abdo is the main vocalist of an Egyptian folk rock fusion band. She established her music career in 2009 and has since been involved in various performances, notably public performances during the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 and through works and tours with music artists and bands. Abdo is a self-taught vocalist who applies different music techniques and genres including progressive rock, metal, folk, jazz, and electronic music .

The third part executing the collaborative performance amid the Christmas night celebrations is Tarek Abdelkawi, the guitarist for the concert.

Abdelkawi is a graphic designer and collaborative music performer. His work with graphic design and illustration is independent and self-employed, and he has taught at the German University in Cairo (GUC) and for Magaz Magazine. He currently works as an instructor at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Abdelkawi creates original guitar music independently and calling it “Minstrel Dead” , which is a name he also uses to refer to his graphic design.

Da House of Arts is a venue for live musical performances, workshops, film screenings, and art galleries, hosting year-round events.
