Storyteller Boola Samy to perform in Magnolia Leaves of Art

CAIRO - 13 December 2017: Magnolia Leaves of Art will host a storytelling event on Thursday. The event includes a show by the center itself as well as a performance by the impressive Boola Samy, a professional storyteller, who will be accompanied by oud player Arafa el-Sonbaty.

Boola Samy is a writer and a mentor. He published a story collection in 2017 titled “Dawsha” (Noise). Samy has performed in various venues in Cairo; he has also written scripts for a number of film productions including the short film “The Doll House,” which received the “Best Film” title at the Opera House as part of the arts event for the French University in Egypt.

Samy has also worked on several articles for Al-Masry Al-Yom’s online magazine and runs a blog for the Arabic Huffington Post. As a creative writer, he has organized and conducted workshop sessions on the practice of creative writing in collaboration with the Egyptian NGO Media-Arts for Development (MADEV) as well as Noon Academy.

Boola Samy is a graduate of Al-Haya Institution and the House of Counseling; both are organizations that offer courses and certification for professional counselors. He gives lectures and talks in Cairo about mentoring and counseling and has done various studies on different kinds of therapeutic counseling.

Magnolia Leaves of Art is an art space that hosts various cultural activities and events including film screenings, performances, exhibitions, and workshops.
