CAIRO – 13 December 2017: The Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt released a book titled “Graves of the Valley of the Queens” in early December, which was announced to be the first part of a book collection about the ancient graves found in the Valley of the Queens located in the west bank of Luxor city.

Hesham al-Leithy, general manager of the Center for Documentation and Study of Ancient Egypt, explains that the book is a part of a series of scientific books published annually by the Center. He adds that it is the first book that specifically discusses the graves of the Valley of the Queens, according to the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Antiquities.

The book is published in French and English; it gives a detailed and complete history of the site and describes the locations of each of the ancient graves. It also provides an account of the people buried in the graves, with descriptions based on the artifacts, painted motifs and interpretations of the wall engravings found at the graves.

The Center for the Documentation and Study of Ancient Egypt has published a number of scientific books on ancient Egyptian sites, including a book on Nubian temples and one on the Beni Hassan Cemetery located in Minya.
