CAIRO – 11 December 2017: Mediterranean music project Estabena will perform at Dawar on December 18 under the patronage of the European Union.

Estabena is a multicultural band that performs folk music compositions taken from Mediterranean cultures. The band presents the cultures of Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Lebanon and Syria.

Although Estabena is a newly-founded band, they have given many live performances in different venues, such as Dawar, Bab 18 Art Space, Room Art Space and Café and El-Dammah Theater.

Originally borrowed from the Italian language, (estabena) means (we agree) in Egyptian slang.

The band consists of Chakib Ararou on guitar and vocals, Mahmoud Mohamed on violin, George Emad on percussions, and Mohamed Samy Negm on oud, in addition to two vocalists Luisa Russo and Emad Fathy.

Dawar is a cultural venue specialized in theatre and its branches; such as psycho drama, theatrical performances, and drama therapy (using drama to heal). Providing art exhibitions and other cultural events, the place hosts activities that are headed by professional experts, in addition to organizing a number of drama workshops.
