CAIRO – 10 December 2017: Medina Beats Night will be hosted at Room Art Space & Café on December 13. The night will include different entertaining activities such as film screenings and music performances.

Medina Beats is organized by W.A.R project and Onorient initiative. Both aim to revive the Arabic heritage and shed light on Arabic subcultures.

The night will start with screening two documentary films; "Rihla: The Cultural Paths of the Arab World" and "A Song for Nubia."

A wonderful music performance by Multinational independent band Estabena will follow the screenings.

Estabena is a multicultural band that performs many folk music compositions taken from Mediterranean cultures. The band represents the cultures of Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Lebanon and Syria.

Although Estabena is a newly-founded band, it performed many live performances in different venues such as Dawar, Bab 18 Art Space, Room Art Space and Café and El Dammah Theater.

Estabena means “We Agree” in Egyptian slang. Originally the word was borrowed from the Italian language.

The band consists of Chakib Ararou on guitar and vocals, Mahmoud Mohamed on violin, George Emad on percussion, and Mohamed Samy Negm on oud, in addition to two vocalists Luisa Russo and Emad Fathy.
