French crime drama film “L’Outsider” to screen in Egypt

CAIRO – 10 December 2017: “L’Outsider” (2016), also called “Teen Spirit” in English, will be screening at the Institut français d'Égypte (French Institute of Egypt) in Mounira on Wednesday. The film will be shown with its original French language and Arabic subtitles.

“L’Outsider” (The Outsider) is a French crime drama film directed by Christopher Barratier based on the true story of Jérôme Kerviel, a French trader who committed the biggest case of trading fraud during the global financial crisis of 2007-2008, resulting in losses of 4.9 billion Euros.

The film follows Kerviel’s life beginning from 2000, from the start of his career at the French bank Société Générale. Focusing on the less common trading practices in the bank, and shows the chain of events that led to Kerviel’s massive fraud, turning him from a modestly paid accountant to the perpetrator of the world’s biggest case of fraud.

“L’Outsider” stars Arthur Dupont as Jérôme Kerviel, François-Xavier Demaison as Fabien Keller, Sabrina Ouazani as Sofia, and Tewfik Jallab as Samir.
